Message from Festival Director

The Inland Sea of Sound is back in February 2022, somehow.

We all know what a difficult time it has been for the past two years and it has been particularly difficult for music festivals. Many have cancelled since early 2020. The Inland Sea of Sound has been more fortunate than most. We scraped in with a great festival on Wahluu – Mount Panorama at the end of January 2020 and then, despite the financial impact of Covid 19, Bathurst Regional Council was still able to support a reduced scale but musically magical downtown festival in 2021. Now, with support from Bathurst Regional Council and Create NSW the festival will run from the 23rd to the 26th of February 2022.

Although the outdoor site at the TAFE/ Fossil Museum carpark was a great success last year and we hope to use it again, the festival will be held at indoor venues in 2022. The outdoor site is quite expensive to establish and at the time of programming we felt the need to direct those funds to secure artists. La Niña is also scheduled to continue through February which further convinced us to stay indoors this year.

The exciting new development for 2022 is the partnership with Keystone 1899 and the Victoria Hotel as festival venues alongside BMEC. This allows us to program simultaneous concerts of different styles of music to ensure the festival can appeal to a broader audience.

Another new development is the Regional Song Contest Showcase which will kick off the festival and allows more diverse input from artists across the Central West.

Please join us for four days of great music, wonderful food and drink and the opportunity to celebrate all of this with family and friends.
